Santa María Apazco in Nochixtlan, Oaxaca, is the home of Mujeres Milenarias — an association of Mixteco women who are working to conserve their ancestral process of pulque extraction.

Alejandra Rodriguez learned to make pulque through the teachings of her parents, Renato and Candida.

This is a heritage tradition, passed down through generations of Mixteco families.
